Navigating the sprawling backyard in Grounded presents players with unique environmental challenges, especially when searching for key story locations. The Hedge Lab is one of the crucial early-game objectives required to progress BURG.L's research and unlock vital upgrades. Finding this facility requires trekking to the southeastern region of the yard and ascending high into the overgrown foliage.
Finding the Hedge Lab Location
The Hedge Lab is situated in the far southeastern corner of the backyard map, embedded high within the thick branches of the Hedge biome. Unlike ground-level structures, this facility is suspended far above the soil, making it impossible to reach directly from the forest floor. Players must locate the initial climb point known as the Hedge Ascent to begin their upward journey.
To pinpoint the start of the climb, head toward the western edge of the Hedge biome near a large stone wall. Look for a fallen tree branch resting near a green paper clip and a nearby Field Station. Ascending this main twig serves as the gateway to the elevated pathway leading into the canopy.
Navigating the Canopy and Ziplines
Once you reach the upper branches, your path relies heavily on navigating natural bridges and using established zipline networks. You will climb past an Apricop Punch-O juice box wedged high in the leaves and use mushroom ledges to climb higher. Traversing these high-altitude paths requires careful balance to avoid falling all the way back to the ground.
As you progress, you will cross the bright red Flingman Flying Disc wedged between the branches. Following the path past this landmark leads through ruined lab outposts infested with spiderlings and orb weaver spiders. Riding the final zipline from the last ruined segment will carry you straight into the main entrance of the Hedge Lab.
Key Objectives Inside the Hedge Lab
Inside the facility, players must explore damaged corridors and solve environmental puzzles to fully restore power. The primary objective is collecting four password fragments hidden across various rooms and broken branches. Once you gather all pieces, you can access the main terminal to unlock the vault and retrieve the Hedge Super Chip.
Restoring power also activates a shortcut door at the base of the stone wall near the birdbath. This convenient access point allows players to easily return to the lab without repeating the lengthy canopy climb. Preparing properly with gear like a Dandelion Tuft and adequate medical supplies ensures a smooth exploration experience.
